Thank you for interest in the Leading Practice Guidelines. The guidelines reflect the current understanding on best practice in service delivery. They were developed through a partnership with Abilities Manitoba and the Department of Families.
These guidelines have been informed by feedback and consultation with people with disabilities, their families and service providers along with best practice research on high-quality services and supports.
We thank all stakeholders who contributed to the development of the guidelines.
At this point, the guidelines are not intended to serve as minimum standards, but as best practice and service goals that the sector will continuously strive to achieve.
It is important to note that not every guideline will apply to every service. Some guidelines are specific to a particular service (employment, clinical, etc.) A service provider is not expected to implement a guideline for a service it does not deliver.
The guidelines are not yet final. Abilities Manitoba is seeking feedback from stakeholders in two areas:
- Content – Do the guidelines capture what they are supposed to? Are they clear and thorough?
- Implementation – What should be considered when rolling out the guidelines?
The Guidelines are available for review and feedback until July 12th, 2019. Access them now through the following link: Leading Practice Guidelines
Feedback can be submitted by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or Canada Post at:
